The Qashqai and the Juke are two of the best-selling Nissans in Europe, but CarPlay and Android Auto support varies widely depending on the year and trim you own. Some cars have no smartphone mirroring at all, some have it wired, and newer ones have wireless Apple CarPlay built in from the factory. Here is what each generation offers — and how to upgrade the ones that connect by cable.

Nissan Qashqai (2014–2021): CarPlay arrived in 2019

The second-generation Qashqai (J11) launched without any smartphone mirroring. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were added with the 2019 model-year update, as part of an upgraded NissanConnect system with a 7-inch touchscreen — standard from the Acenta Premium grade upward. The connection on this system is made by USB cable.

If your Qashqai is from 2014–2018, it has no factory CarPlay — and it's worth being upfront: a wireless adapter cannot help here, because adapters plug into a car that already has wired CarPlay. For these cars, the realistic route is an aftermarket head unit from a car audio installer.

Nissan Qashqai (2021 onwards): wireless CarPlay built in on many trims

The third-generation Qashqai (J12) made a big jump. Its 9-inch NissanConnect screen supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Nissan introduced wireless Apple CarPlay with this model — so many 2021-onwards Qashqais connect an iPhone with no cable at all. Android Auto on these cars generally still runs over USB.

The 2024 facelift moved to a 12.3-inch display with Google built-in from the N-Connecta grade upward. Note that on the entry Acenta Premium grade the phone connection is wired only, with wireless connections reserved for higher trims — so even on a brand-new Qashqai, it pays to check your specific car.

Nissan Juke (2019 onwards): wired on the 8-inch screen

The second-generation Juke (F16) launched with an 8-inch touchscreen offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from the Acenta trim upward; the entry Visia grade came with a basic Bluetooth stereo and no touchscreen. On the 8-inch system, CarPlay and Android Auto connect by cable — which makes these Jukes prime candidates for a wireless upgrade.

The 2024 Juke facelift brought a 12.3-inch infotainment system similar to the one in Nissan's larger cars. Wireless Android Auto is offered on this system, and several reports indicate wireless CarPlay as well, though availability can vary by market and grade.

The 30-second self-test

Trim and software variations make year-based rules imperfect, so test your own car: plug your phone into the car's USB port with a cable. If CarPlay or Android Auto launches on the screen, your Nissan has wired smartphone mirroring — and a wireless adapter will work. If nothing launches, your car doesn't have the factory feature, and an adapter won't add it.

Making a wired Qashqai or Juke wireless

If your Nissan passed the self-test, the HexaCharge Complete Kit converts the wired connection to wireless: the adapter plugs into the car's USB port once, your phone pairs over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and CarPlay or Android Auto starts automatically when you get in. The kit also includes a MagSafe charging mount, so your phone charges while it sits at eye level instead of lying in the tray.

Setup in a Qashqai or Juke takes a few minutes. For step-by-step instructions, see our guide on how to add wireless CarPlay to a wired-only car.

Mounting tips for the Qashqai and Juke

Both cars have round or angled air vents that suit a vent mount well, but if you prefer to keep the vents clear — useful in winter when warm air can interfere with charging — the HexaDash telescopic dash mount positions the phone on top of the dashboard with an adjustable arm.
